Izzard leads UnFare protest!

Much loved Comedian and graduate of Norwich based University of East Anglia, Eddie Izzard joined mayoral candidate Ken Livingstone to lead protests against the planned 8% increase to Rail, Tube and Bus fares. The former Jongleurs regular came out to voice his opinions about London mayor’s Boris Johnson’s plans to increase public transport fees.“Money is tight for everyone at the moment, so it is the wrong time for big fare increases, especially two per cent above inflation. Since Boris has been mayor, the prices have gone up 56 per cent for a single fare.”He continued “That is why I am backing Ken for mayor - he’s a bit of a maverick and I am a maverick myself. People forget all the work Ken, and other people, did to get the Olympics here next year. Boris gets a lot of the credit.”The increasingly political Izzard has never kept his Activist side quiet famously performing whole sets in France and Germany in the native languages. Bringing forth his grand idea “Eeverything translates. Human is Human, is not nationality - that's my big theory”Izzard received an honorary Doctor of Letters from the University of East Anglia in Norwich in July 2003, for his "pro-Europe campaigning", "his contribution to promoting modern languages and tolerance of other cultures and lifestyles" and for having "transcended national barriers" with his humor. His jaw dropping marathon man challenge which he completed in 2009 saw him run 43 marathons in a mere 51 days. After which he met with Gordon Brown and officially announced his political ambitions stating:"I've said I will stand as an MP or MEP at some stage in 10 to 15 years, I like to make long announcements. But at the moment I've spent so long trying to get my career going I don't want to throw it away."Izzard appeared on question time in May 2005 giving his support for the further integration of the UK into the EU describing himself famously as a 'British-European', comparing his cultural identity to those such as 'African-American'.This protest is only his second of the year after the ever political Eddie showed his support to change the British electoral system from first-past-the-post to an alternative vote earlier this year.
