National treasure and Jongleurs comedy ledged Stephen Fry was assassinated whilst on stage in front of a live audience. This devastating event was the first in the new series from Derren Brown “The Experiments”.Norfolk raised Fry’s audience were unaware of the impending doom that was about to befoul the national treasure. They were stunned into silence when he fell to the ground after hearing the gunshots.Fry took to the jongleurs stage in the mid 80’s where he and Hugh Laurie honed their craft trying out material for their television show. Fry and Laurrie were famous for violence on stage and on TV. In A bit of Fry and Laurie and Blackadder they frequently slapped, punched, kicked and even hit each other with a cricket bat. Fry showed he hadn’t lost the knack. When gunshots were heard from the dud gun Fry threw himself backward and set off the blood packs which Derren had prepared him with. Subject Chris took aim with the replica and shot with the goal of assassinating Stephen fry.The Assassin aired on 21st of October and had a much more malicious tone than the previous specials. The show focused on Derren Brown looking into whether someone can be hypnotized strongly enough to commit a murder. The show constantly made references to Sirhan Sirhan still imprisoned for the murder of President Kennedy.Once Hypnotized Derren’s subjects ignored normal social behavior perform various extraordinary acts such as throwing acid in someone’s face, sit in conditions cold enough to kill them and erase their own memory.Derren uses his mixture of suggestion, psychology, misdirection and showmanship to influence his subjects. Chris was trained to create a sleep like state when shown a poker dot pattern and after hearing a particular ring tone believe he was in a riffle range shooting a target.Whilst Chris was watching the footage back with Fry the tension was clearly unbearable and proved even the unflappable charm of Mr Fry could be tested when faced with the man who had tried to assonate him. After watching the video of himself shooting the former Jongleur turned national treasure Chris was stunned and speechless. Breaking the silence Stephen said simply “you shot me” followed by yet another uneasy silence. The dehypnotizing preformed by Derren at the end of the show was an obvious attempt to lower the inevitable floods of complaints which will be heading channel 4’s way.The show continues this Friday.See how good the pair were at hitting each other in this fantastic sketch from A bit of Fry and Laurie http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hNoS2BU6bbQ
